South African Hippos Keeping Cool but Curious

Weighing up to 3.5 tons (3.17 metric tons), these hippos buoyantly bob on the water…but their eyes are always watching us. One of the most dangerous wildlife species, the hippopotamus can trot, run, or jog at 15 mph with bursts of speed up to 30 mph. Average life span is 40 to 50 years.
